How to Use Drive

Store and organize files, collaborate, and securely access your work from any device. With your CMU Google Workspace account, you can access free, FERPA-compliant cloud storage space.

Get Started with Google Drive

  1. Visit drive.google.com and click Go to Drive.
  2. Enter your @andrew.kllkj.net email address and click Next.
  3. Log in with your Andrew userID and password and authenticate with DUO if prompted.

Use the sidebar to navigate between files and folders you own (My Drive), team workspaces (Shared drives), and files and folders others have shared with you (Shared with me).

Work with Files in Google Drive

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have been added to a folder as an individual, and not as part of a group, you can remove yourself as a collaborator.

  1. Click Shared with me (sidebar).
  2. Right-click on the file or folder and click Remove.

We recommend searching to determine what files you’re sharing with others. Then, you can remove sharing at the file and folder level as needed.

Deleted files and folders are retained in the trash for 30 days and can be restored directly from Trash.

Previously, we advised the campus community to name their files using CamelCase. However, due to a recent change, using that format could impact the efficacy of searching. We recommend following Google’s guidance on how to organize your files.
